La Mesa Martial Arts Academy Brings Home the Gold ...and the Silver, and the Bronze

LA MESA, Calif., Oct. 5, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Cadu Francis and his La Mesa Brazilian Jiu Jitsu team did themselves proud as they piled up the bling at the recent American National Jiu Jitsu Championships in Carson, California on September 8^th and 9^th. Overall, nine of the team's 12 competitors brought home a whopping 11 medals between them. Six of those were gold.

The La Mesa martial arts scene is now firmly on the map after this victory, and Cadu Francis is more than proud of his martial arts team.

Cadu Francis Back in the Ring

It wasn't just Cadu's La Mesa Brazilian Jiu Jitsu students who shone at the championships.  Cadu himself was back in the ring proving that his absence from competition hadn't dulled his edge in the slightest. He brought home double gold in the Black Belt Master Heavyweight and Open Weight Classes for his La Mesa martial arts academy.

"It has been over three years since I've last competed, and I feel that my students need this kind of inspiration," he said.

Cadu, originally from Sao Paulo, Brazil, earned his purple belt at just 19 years of age, and his black belt at 22.  His last year of competition before this event truly was inspirational. In 2009, he was Pan-American Master Champion, National Master Open Class Champion and World No GI Master Champion.

The La Mesa Martial Arts Team

While Cadu won two of the team's gold medals, he wasn't the only one who shone in the ring on the day. Four other team members earned gold. They are Gary Latorraca, Jesus Galvan, Rob Denton and Greg Cortez. Enrique Silva and Rob Denton both won silver, and the team's three bronze medals were bagged by Aaron Freidenberg, Robert Poling and Joel Roberts.

This is clearly a team to watch! La Mesa Brazilian Jiu Jitsu fans have a lot to look forward to in future competitions from the academy's up and coming stars and their renowned leader Cadu Francis.
