Ladies of Laughter Contest is a Beacon for Funny Women
Turning Stone Resort Casino Hosts 2016 Grand Finale with Past Winner, Tammy Pescatelli
NEW YORK, June 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Since it was first announced in May, close to 100 funny women have applied to the 2016 Ladies of Laughter National Competition taking place this summer, "with dozens more applying weekly," reported comedy producers. Approximately 60 women will be chosen to compete at preliminary events taking place beginning July 13th in New York. Ten Finalists will be chosen at these events to advance to the Grand Finale at Turning Stone Resort Casino on Saturday, August 20 where they will compete for cash prizes, comedy bookings and the 2016 Ladies of Laughter "Professional" and "Newcomer" titles. National headliner and former Ladies of Laughter winner, Tammy Pescatelli, will host the Grand Finale.

"Since it was first introduced into comedy clubs in 1999, the Ladies of Laughter series has awarded theater and comedy club bookings, major publicity and thousands of dollars to aspiring comediennes and has been a driving force behind women getting to the next level in their comedy careers," said Executive Producer, Peggy Boyce.
2016 Ladies of Laughter sponsors include Turning Stone Resort Casino, Stage Time Magazine, and Skinnygirl Cocktails. A percentage of proceeds from the events will benefit Buddy Cares – an animal rights advocacy group that provides wellness and services to abandoned animals in need.
Those interested in registering for Ladies of Laughter should go to www.ladiesoflaughter.org. Contestants must be eighteen years or older and must enter no later than July 13th to be considered for the 2016 competition. Both professional and amateur woman comedians are encouraged to apply.
