Lancet Data Sciences Reimagines "Information Super Highway"

To continue road testing their offerings for clients, the company sets off this month to crew the world's most challenging endurance bicycle race – collecting, analyzing and reporting data along the way.

Lancet President and founder Tom Niccum will act as crew chief for Team Bob McEnaney, as Bob takes on Race Across America (RAAM) 2014 – a 3,000 mile timed endurance race across the continental USA, starting on June 10^th, 2014 (www.raceacrossamerica.org). Along with several other team members, Tom will manage critical roadside support services including food, hydration, medical service coordination – as well as the collation of data on athletic performance and the many environmental variables throughout the 12-DAY bike race. The Lancet team plans to track their athlete's performance data against a wide variety of other variables from rest stops to nutritional intake, times of day and night, terrain and other environmental factors. Data will be presented for fans of cycling and data analysis as a business intelligence dashboard, a specialty of the firm's visualization capability that helps users gain an instant snapshot or detailed overview of a business situation by presenting a wide variety of compelling data points in a highly visual manner.
