Lancope President and CEO Mike Potts Joins U.S. Chamber of Commerce National Security Task Force
Task force works to increase homeland security while preserving country's economic vitality
ATLANTA, June 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Lancope, Inc., a leader in flow-based security and network performance monitoring, has announced that its president and CEO, Mike Potts, has joined the U.S. Chamber of Commerce National Security Task Force/Cybersecurity Working Group. Created by the Chamber's National Security and Emergency Preparedness Department, the task force works to help bolster homeland security while still preserving the economic interests of the private sector.
"By providing an always-on sensor grid for continuous network security, Lancope plays a key role in protecting governments and enterprises around the world from sophisticated attacks," said Mike Potts, president and CEO of Lancope. "We are honored to leverage our unique perspective on cyber security to advise the U.S. government and help shape policies that will further strengthen our nation's risk posture."
Chaired by Tom Ridge, the first secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the National Security Task Force is comprised of a diverse set of member organizations across industries that come together to share threat intelligence and influence cyber security legislation. Since 85 percent of our nation's critical infrastructure is owned and operated by the private sector, initiatives like the task force are critical for bringing public and private sector leaders together to protect the country.
By leveraging network data from existing infrastructure, Lancope's StealthWatch® System breaks the mold of conventional security technologies with cost-effective, end-to-end monitoring that can scale to protect even the largest networks. This unprecedented approach makes Lancope an ideal source of security best practices for the U.S. government and the country's leading corporations.
Other members of the National Security Task Force and/or Cybersecurity Working Group include Accenture, American Express, AT&T, Bank of America, Boeing, Cisco, Dell, General Electric, Google, IBM, Intel, Lockheed Martin, Microsoft, Northrop Grumman, Target, Verizon, Visa and Xerox, just to name a few.
"Lancope is already a huge proponent of collaboration among the security industry for the greater good," added Potts. "We appreciate the opportunity to further these endeavors by working with the Chamber and other task force members to pursue common goals for cyber security."
