Lancope's StealthWatch® System to Monitor Show Floor Traffic at Cisco Live
Flow-based monitoring solution detects both sophisticated security threats and disruptive performance issues
ATLANTA, June 5, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Cisco Live -- Lancope, Inc., a leader in flow-based security and network performance monitoring, has announced that its StealthWatch® System will monitor show floor traffic at Cisco Live, Cisco's annual IT and communications conference, taking place June 10-14 in San Diego, Calif. StealthWatch collects and analyzes NetFlow and IPFIX from Cisco infrastructure devices to provide end-to-end visibility for vastly improved network security and performance.
"Due to StealthWatch's unique ability to cost-effectively identify and mitigate the full spectrum of threats facing today's enterprises, Cisco leverages the system not only internally, but also as part of the mobile network monitoring solution it brings to various events," said Chris Smithee, strategic solutions architect for Lancope. "Previously, StealthWatch has monitored traffic at Cisco Live and FIRST 2011, and was recently added to the arsenal of network monitoring tools for the 'Cisco House' at the London 2012 Olympic Games."
As bring-your-own-device (BYOD) environments, conference facility networks can be particularly prone to malware infections. With real-time monitoring of show floor traffic, Cisco and Lancope can quickly detect and resolve any issues stemming from attendees' devices that could affect other conference participants.
As a key component of the Cisco Cyber Threat Defense Solution, StealthWatch captures flow data from a wide range of Cisco networking devices including Catalyst Switches, the ASA platform and the Identity Services Engine (ISE). The Cisco Cyber Threat Defense Solution leverages Lancope and Cisco technologies to combat the most stealthy, dangerous threats lurking within enterprise networks.
Utilizing sophisticated behavioral analysis instead of signature updates, StealthWatch fills in the gaps left by other technologies to provide higher levels of security, availability and performance across both physical and virtual environments. The system uncovers not only zero-day attacks that bypass perimeter defenses, but also internal threats such as policy violations, network misuse, unauthorized access and data leakage.
StealthWatch is scalable to meet the needs of the largest networks, analyzing up to 3 million flows per second. By providing a comprehensive view of what is going on in the network at any given time, the system addresses increasing demands being placed on corporate infrastructure due to challenges such as IT consumerization, user mobility, cloud computing and advanced persistent threats (APTs).
In addition to monitoring show floor traffic, Lancope will exhibit the StealthWatch System at Cisco Live Booth #944. StealthWatch will also be featured in two speaker presentations at the show.
