The conference program, titled Changing the Global Dynamics—America's Renaissance, includes sessions on the abundance of energy in the U.S., exports of natural gas, the changing global landscape in oil and gas markets, the "great crew change," shale and unconventional resources, and challenges specific to the professional and leadership development of women in technology positions.
Presented by Gulf Publishing, the conference is highlighted by three keynote speakers: Amity Shlaes, Director of the 4% Project at the George W. Bush Institute, Jo Miller, CEO of the Women's Leadership Coaching, Inc., and Jackie Joyner-Kersee, recently named the greatest female athlete of the 20th century by Sports Illustrated.
Conference Chair Marcela Donadio, Americas Oil & Gas Leader and Partner of Ernst & Young, said this year's conference captures the global changes of the industry with remarkable presenters who are passionate about the advancements and challenges they are addressing every day.
"Changes in the global market and the renaissance of the Americas are providing exciting opportunities for those in the oil and gas industry, especially women," said Donadio. "Our advisory board has developed an exciting agenda this year to provide global insights, generate discussion and foster networking and professional development for attendees. Industry leaders and motivating speakers will present some of the most thoughtful and provocative topics directed to women in the industry. This 10th conference will be the most inspiring, as well as informative."
Presenters and panelists for the conference include executives and managers representing all sectors of the oil and gas industry and operating in exploration, production, human resources, strategic planning, forecasting among others. Other presenters include Charles Drevna, President of American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers, and Karen Alderman Harbert, President and CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
10 Years Strong
Alexandra Pruner, CFO and partner of Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Company, led the charge developing the first women's global energy conference 10 years ago when she worked at Gulf Publishing Company.
"In 2003, we saw a need to address the issues that women faced in what is traditionally thought of as a male-dominated industry, as well as to introduce opportunities for networking," said Pruner. "The goal has always been to offer a professional platform for women in the oil patch to share leadership insights and gain industry knowledge that advance their careers and the people they manage. Keeping and retaining the best talent in the industry – including women – is of paramount importance to the success of energy companies today."
John Royall, president and CEO of Gulf Publishing Company, reflects on the changing industry landscape over the past decade.
"With the surge in shale oil and gas production, the U.S. leads the world in some of the technological advancements that have taken place," said Royall. "The industry has also advanced the role of women into senior level executive positions as more women became interested in engineering careers and as major industry players have provided more professional development programs for women. It is a welcome evolution that is still under way."
