LOS ANGELES, Jan. 11, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- LA's BEST and Rockin' Hood Project (RHC), today announced a partnership to launch a unique entrepreneurship initiative for inner city schools in Los Angeles. As a part of this collaboration, RHC will coordinate guest speakers-- world-renowned business owners, executives, influencers, and thought leaders to inspire and foster an entrepreneurial mindset for LA's BEST after school enrichment program.
To kick off its first event, the program will feature guest speaker, Mexican animator, painter, writer and director Jorge Gutierrez, best known as creator of the multiple Annie Award- and Emmy Award-winning animated television series, El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera for Nickelodeon, and director of The Book of Life, which was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature Film.
The entrepreneurship initiative is designed to provide inspiration, education, and access to support underserved and disadvantaged students in economically distressed areas. The program boasts the framework for honing the skills and characteristics needed for entrepreneurship by cultivating a mindset for curiosity, confidence, and creativity.
"This initiative is part of a project we have been incubating for quite some time and are excited to have found the perfect partner in LA's BEST," said Debra Chen, Founder of Rockin' Hood Project. "This is an important opportunity for local communities to engage, educate and inspire our youth to not only think creatively outside their box but also outside the circumstances where they can be exposed to a world of possibilities beyond their current day-to-day."
"Our partnership with Rockin' Hood Project is building on LA's BEST programmatic focus to engage students aged five to 12 during this critical time in their development," says Eric Gurna, President & CEO of LA's BEST. "Together, we are encouraging students to discover new interests, form new connections, immerse themselves in dynamic challenges and create their future."
