Latin And Global New Car Assessment Programs To Call For No Zero Star Cars
Global car safety organizations, consumer advocate Ralph Nader to hold news conference and webcast to unveil latest car crash test results, urge automakers to eliminate Zero Star cars from the global market
WASHINGTON, April 13, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The New Car Assessment Program for Latin America and the Caribbean (Latin NCAP), Global New Car Assessment Program (Global NCAP) and El Poder Consumidor (Consumer Power, Mexico) will host a news conference and webcast on Thursday, April 14, 2016, in Washington, DC:
- Latin NCAP will unveil new crash test results of cars widely sold in Latin America. The findings will underscore a track record of double standards and the consistently low level of safety performance achieved by some car manufacturers in Latin America. A crash tested Zero Star car will be on display outside of the National Press Building on F Street near 14th Street, NW.
- Global NCAP will call attention to its No Zero Star Cars Campaign, which urges automakers to eliminate Zero Star Cars from the global vehicle fleet.
- The news conference will take place the day before the UN General Assembly's consideration of recommendations of the inter-governmental Brasilia Declaration, the strongest ever set of global commitments made to road and vehicle safety.
