Laureate Education, Inc., Announces Election of Independent Directors

BALTIMORE, Dec. 13, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Laureate Education, Inc., the world's leading higher education provider, announced that its shareholders have elected three independent directors: Robert B. Zoellick, former World Bank president; Judith Rodin, president of the Rockefeller Foundation; and George Munoz, principal of the Munoz Investment Banking Group.

Zoellick served as World Bank president from 2007 to 2012. Currently, he is chairman of Goldman Sachs's international advisors and a senior fellow at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government. Between 2001 and 2005, Zoellick was the U.S. trade representative, and from 2005 to 2006, he was deputy secretary of the U.S. State Department. From 1985 to 1993, Zoellick served in senior posts at the Treasury and State departments, as well as the White House deputy chief of staff. He currently serves on the board of Temasek Holdings in Singapore and the international advisory board of Rolls-Royce. Zoellick is also a member of the board of the congressionally chartered National Endowment for Democracy.

Rodin is president of the Rockefeller Foundation, one of the world's leading philanthropic organizations. Previously, she was president of the University of Pennsylvania and provost of Yale University. Rodin trained as a research psychologist and has written or co-authored more than 12 books and 200 academic articles. She was the first woman to head an Ivy League institution and is the first woman to serve as the Rockefeller Foundation's president. Rodin serves on the boards of Citigroup and Comcast.

Munoz is currently the principal of Munoz Investment Banking Group and a partner in the Chicago-based law firm Tobin & Munoz, LLC. From 1997 to 2001, Munoz was president of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC). Prior to his tenure at OPIC, he was chief financial officer and an assistant secretary of the U.S. Treasury Department. Munoz is a director of Marriott International, Inc., and Altria Group, Inc., and is a trustee of the National Geographic Society.
