LCG Hires Head of Private Investments

ATLANTA, Nov. 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- LCG Associates, Inc., a national investment consulting firm headquartered in Atlanta, has hired Catharine C. Burkett in a newly created role of Vice President, Director of Private Investments. She is based out of the Atlanta office. Burkett's responsibilities include private investments research as well as due diligence and collaborating with clients to implement their private investment allocations.

Burkett has over 30 years of private investment experience. Prior to joining LCG, she was a founding Co-Director of Alternative Investments for the Employee's Retirement Systems of the State of Georgia. In that capacity, she created the investment infrastructure to implement the initial private equity program and led the first investment for the plan. Previously, Burkett was a Principal at Camden Partners, which she joined to build out Camden Private Capital as a diversified private equity fund of funds. Under her leadership, Camden Private Capital raised four funds which were invested in 35 top-performing venture capital, buyout, real asset and special situation funds.

Before working at Camden, Burkett was Director of Private Investments at Spider Management Company, the University of Richmond, where she managed the University's portfolio of venture capital and private equity funds. As a senior member of the Investment Team, she led decisions for setting asset allocation and defining Investment Policy for the management of the endowment's portfolio.

Previously, Burkett worked for The Sherman Fairchild Foundation, a private family foundation based in Chevy Chase, M.D. As Vice President for Finance, she had oversight of all asset classes for the foundation. Before joining the Foundation, Burkett was an Investment Funds Manager at the Overseas Private Investment Corporation, an agency of the U.S. government. She worked closely with private equity managers seeking U.S. government credit support to facilitate their offering of private equity investment funds in emerging countries including Russia, Eastern Europe, Africa and parts of Asia and Latin America.

Burkett also worked at Duke University Management Company as Investment Director selecting and managing funds and direct investments and later as Director at Duke Hospital's Office of Science Technology, where she worked on technology transfers. Prior to Duke University, Burkett served as a Vice President at CIT in the Private Investing unit and as a consultant for RogersCasey (now Segal Rogerscasey) working on corporate pension clients' alternative investment portfolios.

Burkett began her career as a Securities Analyst for The Hillman Company, a Pittsburgh-based family owned investment holding company before joining the firm's venture capital group investing in venture capital funds and directly in venture capital companies.

Burkett has a BA from Queens College, Charlotte, N.C. and an MBA from Xavier University, Cincinnati, O.H.  She is a founder of a limited partners' forum in Baltimore, BALPA, and is a frequent speaker on the perspective of Limited Partners at industry conferences.  She has served or is serving on the Board of Advisors for a number of private equity and venture capital funds.  Burkett is Treasurer and a member of the Board of The Foxfire Fund and oversees the management of that endowment.  She is also on the Board of Advisors for The Alliance Theatre.
