Leading Neuroscientists to Gather at OSU Wexner Medical Center's Second Annual Brain Summit

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Feb. 2, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Continuing its innovative effort to expand the understanding of brain health across scientific disciplines, The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center's Stanley D. and Joan H. Ross Center for Brain Health and Performance will host the second annual Global Brain Health and Performance Summit April 27- 29 at the Hilton Columbus Downtown. The summit will feature many of the world's most prominent neuroscientists and researchers, along with key experts in the brain health industry, including entrepreneurs, corporate leaders, notable science journalists, and others interested in exploring the mechanisms by which brains and bodies function.

Keynote speakers include:

• Deepak Chopra, founder of The Chopra Foundation, co-founder of The Chopra Center for Wellbeing, and world-renowned pioneer in integrative medicine and personal transformation.
• Dan Buettner, National Geographic Fellow, best-selling author and founder of Blues Zones, a company that puts the world's best practices in longevity and well-being to work in people's lives.
• Nathan Price, award-winning bioengineer and associate director of the Institute for Systems Biology in Seattle.

The summit will kick off with a panel examining the global ecosystem of brain health, featuring some of popular science's leading voices, including Richard Friedman, professor of psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medical College and a contributing opinion writer for The New York Times on neuroscience; Jon Hamilton, National Public Radio science correspondent; Sarah Lenz Lock, who leads the Global Council on Brain Health, an independent collaborative of scientists, doctors and policy experts convened by AARP; and, Jeremy Abbate, publisher of Scientific American.  Three days of sessions will touch on technological advances for understanding brain-body connection to optimize performance across athletic, military and the general population; digitization of neuroscience; and, brain health analytics and the impact on patient care. 

Other speakers will include Abby Levy, president of Thrive Global; Moshe Bar, director of the Brain Research Center at Bar-Ilan University and a professor at Harvard Medical School; and, Amir Kalali, head of the Neuroscience Center of Excellence at QuintilesIMS and a professor at the University of California San Diego. The broad range of panels will also feature senior executives from corporations such as IBM, personnel from the United States Air Force Labs, and Olympic and professional athletes.
