EMERYVILLE, Calif., March 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- LeapFrog Enterprises, Inc. (NYSE: LF) today announced its continued commitment to supporting childhood literacy through its annual Family Reading Month donation campaign in partnership with Toys for Tots. To encourage families to read together, LeapFrog will donate a book to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation's Literacy Program for every parent who pledges to read together as a family. In the last three years, LeapFrog has donated more than $3 million in books through charitable organizations including Jumpstart and We Give Books.

"Building literacy skills at an early age is crucial to future academic success and at LeapFrog, we strive to develop solutions that help children learn to read," said Dr. Jody Sherman LeVos, manager of LeapFrog's Learning Team. "Today, the USA ranks 17th in global reading scores*, which makes it more important than ever for parents to develop traditions around reading together as a family. Through our Family Reading Month pledge we hope to inspire parents to spend more time at home helping their children build literacy skills. For nearly 20 years, LeapFrog has remained focused on fostering the best first reading experiences and our team of learning experts and designers work tirelessly to ensure every experience is engaging and of the highest quality."

LeapFrog continues its history of giving in 2014 through its partnership with Toys for Tots. For every parent that pledges to read as a family on the LeapFrog Facebook page, LeapFrog will donate a book to the Toys for Tots Literacy Program. The Toys for Tots Literacy Program offers the nation's most economically disadvantaged children the ability to compete academically and to succeed in life by providing them direct access to resources that will enhance their ability to read and to communicate effectively.
