Leonardo LoCascio Selections, a Member of The Winebow Group, Appointed Exclusive U.S. Importer of Suavia

RICHMOND, Va., May 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Leonardo LoCascio Selections, a member of The Winebow Group and America's leading importer of premium Italian wines, has announced that, effective immediately, they will be the exclusive U.S. importer of Suavia, one of Italy's foremost producers of Soave. By choosing Leonardo LoCascio Selections, the Veneto producer joins a portfolio that represents more than 60 wineries throughout Italy.   

Suavia's owners, the Tessari family, have lived and worked on the land since the 19^th century, but it was not until 1982 that Giovanni and Rosetta Tessari realized the region's full potential and established their own winery. Today, the winery is run by their daughters Alessandra, Meri, and Valentina who represent Suavia's new generation with a focus on meticulous vineyard management that includes crop diversification, manual pruning, and the use of natural products and grass planting to preserve soil vitality.

The Suavia vineyards, located in Fitta—at some of the highest elevations on the steep, volcanic hills of Soave—are farmed without the use of any chemical pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers. The Tessaris plant only Garganega and Trebbiano di Soave as they strive for a pure expression of their varietals from the basalt soil of the Soave region. Once the most popular Italian white wine in the U.S., Soave is making a comeback as producers reduce yields and improve quality.

Leonardo LoCascio Selections will import five wines from Suavia:  Soave Classico DOC, the single vineyard Monte Carbonare Soave Classico DOC, Le Rive Bianco Veronese IGT, and the Acinatium Recioto di Soave Classico DOCG, all made entirely from Garganega grapes, and the single vineyard Massifitti Bianco Veronese IGT, made from Trebbiano di Soave.
