MARLOW, United Kingdom, March 29 /PRNewswire/ -- The LES Board of Managers today announced Gregory OD Smith has been named new President and Chief Executive Officer for LES and its URENCO USA uranium enrichment facility outside Eunice, New Mexico. The appointment is effective May 3, 2010. Smith currently serves as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Nuclear Officer for URENCO USA (formerly the National Enrichment Facility).
He replaces Reinhard Hinterreither, who has been appointed Chief Operating Officer of Enrichment Technology Company Limited (ETC), also effective May 3, 2010. ETC supplies gas centrifuge technology to its shareholders URENCO and Areva.

Before joining URENCO in September 2007, Smith was senior vice president of Ontario Power Generation Inc., where he was responsible for the development of the organization's nuclear construction and reactor refurbishment program and nuclear commercial business division. Prior to that, he was senior vice president of Darlington Nuclear from 2002 to 2006. From 1976 to 2002, he held several executive positions in the U.S. nuclear industry.
Smith is a graduate of Texas A&M University, with a bachelor's of science degree, Mississippi College with an MBA and Harvard's Advanced Management Program.
