CHICAGO, July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- CheapTickets.com (www.cheaptickets.com) today revealed the six consumer finalists in the "We're Too Cheap to Advertise" contest, where contestants submitted 30-second video ads highlighting just how good it feels to save on travel at CheapTickets.com. They're not only competing to win $50,000 in travel but also to have their creative genius aired on the Travel Channel throughout August.
Six finalists are (in alphabetical order):

- "Bargain Surfers" by Scott Siegel of Oregon
- "CheapTickets Commercial" by Miles Shockley of Illinois
- "Fishing Season" by Brendan Walsh of Pennsylvania
- "The Hotel Pregnant" by Jim Wockenfuss of Maryland
- "We Call It" by Dustin Storm of Missouri
While the CheapTickets contest may be closed for submissions, the fun isn't over yet: Voting is now open to the general public from July 20–27, 2010 at www.cheaptickets.com/commercials. This means the next CheapTickets commercial is in the hands of consumers, who can visit the site to vote for their favorite ad once a day. Not only will they enjoy some fantastic entertainment, they also will receive a $100 promotion code toward a five-night hotel or vacation package(1) on CheapTickets.com. The three contestants receiving the most votes stand to win(2):
- Grand Prize: $50,000 in airfare, plus their commercial will air on the Travel Channel
- First Prize: $5,000 in airfare
- Second Prize: $2,500 in airfare

An expert panel of judges selected the final six ads based on creativity, video quality and fit to contest theme. Judges included: CheapTickets' Deborah Italiano; award-winning Chief Creative Officer David Lubars of advertising agency BBDO North America; and Tim Calkins, Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management's clinical professor of marketing, who leads the Kellogg Super Bowl Advertising Review each year.
