LG Electronics Expands Vacuum Line With First Canister, Lightweight Upright Models for U.S. Market

ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J., April 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Building on its line of award-winning LG Kompressor® vacuum cleaner technology, LG Electronics is adding four new models to its portfolio, including a lightweight upright vacuum, a "total care" upright model and the company's first canister vacuums for the U.S. market.

Available just in time for the annual spring cleaning ritual, each of the new LG vacuums offers consumers the ability to clean in more places, save time and make the disposal of dirt and debris easier and cleaner, according to Sam Kim, president of Home Appliances, LG Electronics USA, Inc.

"By expanding the LG Vacuum cleaner line-up, LG is now offering American consumers new size and style options that appeal to a variety of home environments," Kim said.  "Our newest vacuums use the same core technology that has made the line-up popular among consumers – our patented Kompressor system with a larger dust bin – helping to keep a cleaner and healthier home."

The new high-performance vacuum cleaners all employ LG's proprietary Kompressor technology, the world's first motorized dust-compression system that uses a unique wiper blade within the bagless bin to keep it clean while compressing dust intake into wedges. The Kompressor technology and a larger bin size enable LG vacuums to hold up to three times more dust than non-compressor models, meaning users will need to empty the dust bin far less frequently.

Kim noted that LG's award-winning Kompressor technology cleans better than other leading brands. In fact, independent testing by Intertek shows that the LG LuV300B picks up more dirt than the Dyson DC33 (based on testing of plush, multilevel loop and level-loop carpeting that accounts for 85 percent of the U.S. carpet market).

LG's new vacuum innovations include the new lightweight upright model LuV250C, the "total care" upright model LuV400T, and the compact yet powerful Canister PetCare Plus LcV900B and LcV800R models:

LuV250C – Big Power, Smaller Package

The LG LuV250C model is a powerful, feature-packed vacuum contained within an efficient, compact design ideal for smaller spaces. At 16.5 pounds, the LuV250C is the lightest vacuum in LG's upright vacuum family, but it still offers all the outstanding cleaning power of the full-sized vacuum with its Kompressor system. Its DualForce™ Suction technology provides a wider suction area for better cleaning in hard to reach places by adding air pathways to both sides of the vacuum head in addition to the traditional center section.  The vacuum's telescoping handle collapses for more compact storage, and its lighter weight makes it easier to maneuver around the house.  The LuV250C comes equipped with a Pet Hair Turbine tool that removes pet hair embedded in furniture and carpets, a HEPA filtration system that captures dust mites, pollen and other common household allergens and a 30-foot retractable cord to cut down on pauses for unplugging and re-plugging.

LuV400T – Better Vacuum, Better Home

The LuV400T is LG's signature total care vacuum using the Kompressor system and DualForce Suction.  A unique mattress tool allows users to unlock deeply embedded dust and allergens through a pulsating vibration system.  For its ability to remove allergens, this vacuum is certified "asthma & allergy friendly®" by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America.  The Click 'N Go™ Wand is detachable, providing 15 feet of additional reach for easier cleaning of stairs, upholstery and other out-of-the-way spots.  Users will enjoy the Radio Frequency (RF) Control, which allows for settings adjustments from the handle when it is detached from the base.  Other features that help the LuV400T provide added convenience and excellent cleaning proficiency include its 40-foot retractable cord – among the longest available, a flexible crevice tool that allows users to reach tight spaces like dryer vents and air ducts and a hardwood floor nozzle.  This model also features LG's stylish design package with its black and steel finish and LED headlights.

Canister PetCare Plus LcV900B and LcV800R – Compact yet Powerful

With the new LcV900B PetCare Plus, LG has expanded its innovative Kompressor system to a canister-type vacuum cleaner – the first available in the U.S. market.  This vacuum packs many of the innovative features LG is known for into a low-profile canister design with easy access to tools and attachments. In addition to DualForce Suction, this model incorporates a tool bar with an additional motor that spins the brush bar to enhance cleaning performance. For faster, more convenient cleaning, this model offers a 21-foot-long retractable cord, as well as controls on the handle that let users adjust power and settings remotely – without going back to the base.  Other convenience features include a Pet Hair Turbine tool, a 2-in-1 crevice tool/dusting brush and a telescopic wand that can be stored in the canister itself.  This modern, compact model comes in a sleek finish.

The LcV800, LG's second canister-type vacuum cleaner, offers many of the same features as the LcV900B model and is also one of the quietest in the industry. Unique to this vacuum is LG's EasyMoving™ Wheel that allows for easy maneuverability on both hard surfaces and carpet with smooth sliding and less pulling for a better cleaning experience.  This vacuum is complete with a variety of tools including the Pet Hair Turbine tool and nearly 19-foot-long retractable cord. A convenient locking feature allows the auto nozzle to lock the side or back for easy, flexible and compact.
