LG Electronics Partners With Mill Valley Film Festival to Host First-Ever Screening on TV

MILL VALLEY, Calif., Oct. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- For the first time in its 33-year history, the Mill Valley Film Festival today will screen a feature film, Cameraman: The Life & Work of Jack Cardiff, on television screens - LG Electronics' Infinia LE8500 LED LCD and Infinia PX950 plasma HDTVs.

Both HDTV models are designed to deliver the ultimate in picture quality, having received the highest credentials from THX, known for its design and certification of world-class cinemas, film mastering and post-production. The LE8500 is the only LED LCD HDTV in the United States to receive 2D THX Display Certification, while the PX950 is the only THX 3D Certified TV in the world. With the Infinia Series, consumers are treated to "Something Better" in home entertainment by viewing the exact same colors, contrasts, deep blacks, shadows and details that moviegoers experience in the theater.

In addition to hosting the VIP screening in Marin County, LG Electronics USA is also the Festival's official HDTV sponsor. The Company has installed LG HDTVs in movie theaters, box offices and special event locations throughout the Mill Valley area during the 11-day event, all showing content promoting the Festival, movie trailers and premiere schedules.

Director Craig McCall is debuting his landmark documentary, Cameraman: The Life & Work of Jack Cardiff, on the LG Infinia screens during a VIP screening at a private residence in Mill Valley. Cameraman chronicles the life and work of legendary cinematographer, Jack Cardiff, whose career spanned an incredible nine decades, and whose work behind the camera altered the look of films forever through his use of Technicolor photography. The documentary features on-camera tributes from an impressive selection of notable stars including John Mills, Kirk Douglas and Lauren Bacall, as well as a testimony from director Martin Scorsese on Cardiff's lasting legacy for a younger generation.

The unique backlight structure on the LE8500 Full LED Slim models allows for the Infinia line's ultra-slim depth and picture quality worthy of THX Display Certification. The PX950 plasma HDTV, also in the striking slim design, recreates the cinematic viewing experience by setting optimum color temperature, luminance and gamma levels. With 600Hz Max Sub-field Driving, viewers can enjoy the fastest action sequences in gaming, sports and movies. LG is also the first manufacturer to include the "THX Bright Room" setting which optimizes the contrast, gamma and other settings for watching movies in rooms with a lot of ambient light.
