NEW YORK, Nov. 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- LG Electronics USA today celebrates the launch of the highly anticipated LG TWIN Wash™ laundry pair with SideKick™ pedestal washer with an all-day, Broadway-inspired event in the heart of New York's Theater District.
Aptly titled "LG TWIN Wash presents: Divide & Conquer on Broadway," the launch event features six performances from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. taking place in Father Duffy Square and stars LG's newest laundry innovation – with the help of world-class puppeteers, performers and an award-winning choreographer. The new LG laundry pair designed to make laundry a breeze will be available nationwide Dec. 20.
LG TWIN Wash with SideKick pedestal washer, an industry-first home laundry innovation, allows users to run two separate loads of laundry at the same time. The SideKick is an additional washing machine that may be placed under the LG front-load washer and is specifically designed to wash small, custom-care laundry loads. Its compact size is perfect for special care items, including intimates, delicates and active wear.
Spotlighting the appliance's remarkable dual washing capabilities, a string of performances in Times Square will feature a larger-than-life, 14-foot version of the LG TWIN Wash laundry pair, two 16-foot puppets and six dancers specializing in martial arts, acrobatics and Capoeira, culminating with the "delicate" and "regular" performance artists vying for position in LG TWIN Wash's giant front-loading drum and the diminutive SideKick pedestal washer.

Based on the LG TWIN Wash "divide and conquer" 60-second digital commercial also premiering today, the performance was conceptualized and choreographed by top Broadway choreographer Joshua Bergasse, best known for his Emmy Award-winning work on the NBC show "Smash" and his Tony Award-nominated work on Broadway's "On the Town."
"I wanted to create something memorable with this event; a story that combines the aesthetics of a delicate dance and forceful combat to really showcase the effectiveness of these products," said Bergasse. "I knew I had to work to truly tell the story of LG TWIN Wash, a first-of-its kind innovation, and certainly a star in any laundry room."
The "delicate" and "regular" puppets are brought to life and directed by renowned master puppeteer Eric Wright of the Puppet Kitchen, with each puppet manned by a group of six puppeteers, respectively. Six professional dancers and acrobats will also help bring the show and LG TWIN Wash story to life.
In specially-designed "onstage" areas, consumers can experience the benefits of LG TWIN Wash first-hand and learn more about its capabilities in between performances. Times Square patrons will also have the opportunity to win prizes, including Broadway.com gift certificates and the LG TWIN Wash itself.
LG TWIN Wash washers and accompanying SideKick pedestal washers will be available in both 27- and 29-inch widths with a choice of Graphite Steel or White finishes. The 27-inch WM5000 and 29-inch WM9000 LG TWIN Wash washers earned the ENERGY STAR® Most Efficient 2015 designation. The combined total capacity of the mega-capacity front-load washer and its companion pedestal washer is up to 6.2 cubic feet of space.
Despite its compact size at one cubic foot, the SideKick can wash approximately three to four pounds of laundry per cycle. It is compatible with most LG front-load washers available since 2009, making it the perfect complement for existing LG washers purchased over the past six years. In addition to its new functionality, the washer features LG's TurboWash® technology, which provides 30 minutes of time savings per load.*
"LG TWIN Wash Presents: Divide & Conquer on Broadway" will take place in Father Duffy Square between 45th and 47th Streets, Seventh Ave. and Broadway in the heart of Manhattan. Performances will take place throughout the day at 9:15 a.m., 11 a.m., 12:45 p.m., 2 p.m., 3:15 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
