In his role, Ian will serve as an expert to raise brand awareness of Liebherr as the premium refrigerator that keeps food fresher longer amongst consumers and trade audiences alike within the highly influential consumer and epicurean communities. Ian will serve as Liebherr's spokesperson through a public relations campaign including media relations, social media, industry events, product placements and content and recipe developments.
"Preserving food's nutritional elements for a healthy diet starts with the refrigerator," explained Josef Steigmiller, VP of Liebherr Refrigeration North America. "There is no other refrigeration manufacturer more committed to maintaining fresh food than Liebherr and there is no one more committed to preparing fresh food than Ian Knauer. Liebherr is extremely thrilled to be working with Ian to further educate consumers on buying, storing and consuming healthy, seasonal food."
Media and members of the trade will have the opportunity to meet Ian at the Architectural Digest Home Design Show in New York City on Thursday, March 21, 2013. Ian and Liebherr will be hosting a cooking demo, using seasonal ingredients in Liebherr's patented BioFresh drawers that keep food fresh three times longer than when stored in traditional refrigerators. In addition, Ian will be signing copies of his new book, The Farm - Rustic Recipes for a Year of Incredible Food. Ian's cooking demo will be held at Liebherr's booth #269 on Thursday, March 21st at 3PM.
Ian Knauer grew up going to his family's farm where they grew, foraged, and hunted for their dinner. After college, Ian moved to New York to enter the world of finance, but only to find himself more intrigued with the food scene. It was then he decided to trade in his laptop for a chef's knife and pursue his passion, a career in food.
"Growing up working on a farm in Pennsylvania and later cooking alongside the some of the world's culinary greats, I've known that the fundamentals of any great dish are fresh, seasonal ingredients," Knauer explained. "It's one thing to have a refrigerator for it's good looks, but Liebherr focuses just as much on their food preservation and to me that's the most compelling reason to have one in the kitchen, which I do."
