VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Sept. 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- LIFT Philippines, Inc. is proud to announce it is now officially a public charity with tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the United States Internal Revenue Code. Contributions donated to LIFT Philippines are fully tax-deductible retroactive to the founding of the organization on January 11, 2017. The Christian international relief charity is also now eligible to apply for government and foundation grants, which will further broaden its access to resources and strengthen its ability to provide sustainable solutions to marginalized impoverished rural Philippine communities including: clean water, typhoon disaster relief, housing, organic agriculture and education.
"Obtaining 501(c)(3) status is a major milestone for LIFT Philippines," remarked Founder and President Josh Clark. "This opens the door to allow us to build momentum and reach goals toward sustainable solutions in rural regions lacking systems, finance and resources." LIFT Philippines uses a community driven development (CDD) approach and understands each community is unique. "We use a 80/20 rule for our donations. 20% of the money is for administration and fundraising—that's the fuel. 80% of the money is used for programs."
Josh added, "We're unique, as every non-profit should be. You have great people in rural regions like Manny Pacquiao who built 1,000 homes for his hometown. He's awesome. There's Hybrid Agricultural Empowerment, a powerhouse 'one man band' trained in organic agriculture fighting the war on poverty by training villages and advocacy (watch for his upcoming documentary on VICE). LIFT's approach is Christian and corporate with diverse programs offering long–term sustainable solutions that combat the root cause of poverty like food supply, agriculture, education, health and spirituality. We buy & source locally, so we don't hinder local businesses."
LIFT Philippines will create partnerships with Philippine churches, community leaders, governments, corporations, local school districts, other NGO's and 501(c)(3) nonprofits to achieve goals. They will create partnerships with global donors, churches and corporations to help them reach their full potential. "I want this organization to be helping communities 300 years from now. That's how deep the root problem is. It will take centuries to gain ground."
