Lightwave Logic Announces Update on US Patent Application
Actions Expected to Clear Path for Allowance of Claims for Base Chromophore
NEWARK, Del., Sept. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Lightwave Logic, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: LWLG) a technology company focused on the development of the 'Next Generation Electro-Optic Polymer Material Platform' for applications in high speed fiber-optic data communications and optical computing, provided an update on the Company's US Patent Application No. 11/666,320.
On August 27, 2010, Lightwave Logic submitted a Supplemental Amendment to the USPTO in our U.S. Patent Application No. 11/666,320, which was done for procedural purposes at the suggestion of the Examiner who has been handling the patent application. Although the reinserted claim contained in the Supplemental Amendment will result in a maintained rejection and a second final Office Action, the Examiner suggested this step in order to properly enable him to withdraw previous rejections of all of the other pending claims.
Subsequently, in accordance with the Examiner's previous indications, the company anticipates obtaining a Notice of Allowance in this patent application on all remaining claims.
CEO Jim Marcelli stated, "We are very happy to have come to a resolution with the USPTO regarding this patent, which we anticipate will result in the USPTO issuing the long awaited allowances of our claims and subsequent patent. Upon the issuance of this US patent, our patent estate will be strengthened, providing increasing value to the shareholders of Lightwave Logic."
