Limitless Fitness Launches "Real People, Real Bodies" Campaign as an Alternative to Traditional Physique-focused Fitness Programs
LYNNWOOD, Wash., Dec. 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Lynnwood-based Limitless Fitness, a locally owned business offering personal training and group fitness classes, has announced a year-long campaign of Real People, Real Bodies, to celebrate the progress made by clients of all shapes and sizes. "It's time the fitness industry quit body-shaming people once and for all, and focus on what's really important," explains owner and lead trainer, Tony Maldonado. Tony and his wife Carrie moved to Bothell, WA from Southern California to raise their children and start their business in a city with family-focused values and priorities. "We wanted to start a gym that wasn't about becoming a hard body, or getting skinny," explains Carrie. "Tony and I believe that a strong, healthy body is foundational to enjoying your life to the fullest, not to mention the confidence that the workouts and the discipline of committing to a healthy lifestyle gives you."

It hasn't been an easy endeavor. "We found that once people started with us, our dropout rate was very low, but getting new clients to try us out was really challenging," Tony reflected. "We started out with a base of people who were already pretty fit and just looking for variety, which they get with us, but our heart was to also reach people who were new to fitness."
Eventually, through word of mouth, people joined Limitless Fitness who were recovering from injuries, or who had never exercised before, or not for a long time. "Each of these clients told us the same thing, that they had had bad experiences of being intimidated, mocked, or otherwise made to feel unwelcome or uncomfortable in gyms," Carrie states, "And that working out at Limitless was a whole new experience. It's lifechanging to be able to do something great for your body without feeling judged, or focusing just on what a scale says. Our clients get stronger, more flexible and feel incredible. But we know for everyone we're able to help, there are more people out there who really need to change some things so they can enjoy their lives more, but they're scared."
The 'Real People, Real Bodies' campaign is meant to show that people come in all shapes and sizes and healthy doesn't fit neatly into a box or dress size. It's about acceptance, encouragement, and just getting out there and trying something new. "2017 is the year we celebrate people for who they are and their progress," finishes Tony. "Our motto is you ARE Limitless' and this campaign will help people all become the best, most limitless versions of themselves."
