SYDNEY, Nov. 2, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Boutique Mergers & Acquisitions Advisory Firm, Lincoln Crowne & Company, today announced an innovative philanthropic programme to assist extremely poor and underprivileged children in Australia and Pacific Island Nations meet basic education standards.
Designed to complement the basic preparatory school curricula, the LCC Education Fundamentals Programme will financially support the provision of tutors to charities and orphanages, with those tutors focusing on the building of basic skills in the core subjects of Reading / Comprehension and Mathematics.
The development of this initiative has evolved from LCC's work over many years in supporting children's charities in emerging nations, and feedback from various leaders of those charities on their observation of the alarming and increasing level of illiteracy in underprivileged children.
"Whilst in the western world we take education for granted, in developing nations a child's access to education can be severely impacted by such issues as family pressures (including having to undertake domestic chores to support family life), truancy and basic availability of schooling in certain areas. Such issues are particularly relevant in the instance of orphans and the extremely poor," Nicholas Assef, Lincoln Crowne's Executive Director commented.
LCC's Education Fundamentals Programme is designed to provide charities with financial support to hire qualified tutors in order to help children reinforce basic comprehension and mathematic skills. Those tutors will be recruited by the individual charities involved, and will be subject to basic performance criteria. LCC will make a quarterly payment in advance to each of the charities it works with to meet the cost of the initiative.

The LCC Education Fundamentals Programme has commenced trialling in Fiji, and pending review and refinement will be gradually rolled out to other charities and orphanages across 2013.
