LINE Rangers, the Tower Defense Game with Over 23 Million Downloads, Starts Worldwide Collaboration with Angry Birds
TOKYO, Nov. 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- LINE Corporation, owner and operator of the free call and messaging app LINE, today announced the collaboration between its tower defense game LINE Rangers and Rovio Entertainment Ltd.'s Angry Birds, which started worldwide on November 1.
LINE Rangers is a tower defense game featuring the popular LINE characters. In order to save Sally from the evil Alien Army, players may use over 150 characters to create an original team and progress through over 100 stages, toppling enemy towers along the way. The appealing visuals of the LINE characters and the strategy involved in creating a powerful team has captured a wide range of users, and with over 23 million downloads, LINE Rangers has secured a spot as one of the most popular game titles in the world.
A limited-time collaboration event started worldwide on November 1, with characters from the Angry Birds appearing in LINE Rangers as both the titular Rangers and also as fearsome bosses. Red, King Pig, and Chuck have joined the Rangers with the aim of increasing LINE Rangers' recognition among users in North America and Europe.
Collaboration Outline
1. 5-Star Ranger "Red" appears in the Gacha.
During the event the popular Angry Birds character Red will appear as a 5-Star Ranger in both the Premium and Special Gacha.
Period: From 12 am on Saturday, November 1 until 11:59 pm on Monday, November 17 (GMT+9)
2. "King Pig" appears in boss stages.
The character King Pig will appear in multiple boss stages. Clear the boss stage for a chance to receive the 4-Star "Chuck" as a reward.
Period: From 3 pm on Thursday, November 6 until 2:49 pm on Monday, November 10 (GMT+9)
Appears in boss stages: 24, 36, 48, 60, 72, 84, 96, 108, 120, 132, 144, and 156
3. For 3 Days only 4-Star Chuck will appear in the Normal Gacha playable with Friend Points.
For 3 days only players will be able to get the 4-Star Chuck Gacha from the Normal Gacha, which usually only gives out 1 to 3-Star characters. During this period, the amount of Friend Points players can send to one another will also double from 20 to 40.
Period: From 3 pm on Monday, November 10 until 2:49 pm on Wednesday, November 12 (GMT+9)
In addition, all users who download LINE Rangers between November 4 and 16 will also get a set of Angry Bird stickers.
