Lisa Blue Baron Sworn in as President of National Trial Bar
WASHINGTON, July 29, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Dallas attorney Lisa Blue Baron has been sworn in as the president of the American Association for Justice (AAJ) at the organization's annual convention in Baltimore, Md. AAJ is the world's largest trial bar, working to make sure people have a fair chance to receive justice through the legal system when they are injured by the negligence or misconduct of others.
Blue Baron started her career as a psychologist. After working with lawyers on jury selection, it quickly became clear how interested she was in the interplay between psychology and the law, shortly thereafter she attended law school.
After completing law school, Blue Baron joined the Dallas County District Attorney's office where she prosecuted more than 125 cases to verdict and later advanced to the DA's Organized Crime Division. In 1985, she went to work at her husband, Fred Baron's, law firm, Baron & Budd, where she specialized in environmental and toxic tort law.
"Lisa's accomplishments, tenacity, and leadership will be essential as we work to engage our membership in the fight for AAJ's mission in Congress, the courts, and in the arena of public opinion," said AAJ President Burton LeBlanc.
Blue Baron's detailed knowledge of the law and her skills on jury selection and trial psychology have helped her to garner many professional accolades throughout her career, such as being named one of the "Top 50 Women Litigators in the U.S." by the National Law Journal. Blue Baron's 2004 book Blue's Guide to Jury Selection is considered the "bible" of jury selection. With her husband, Blue Baron founded the Baron and Blue Foundation in 2002 to help non-profit organizations fight the problems of homelessness and displacement and to promote the needs of marginalized communities.
"I will continue Burton LeBlanc's excellent work to ensure America has a strong civil justice system. I have traveled throughout the country to speak with lawyers and lead education programs, and I look forward to more visits," said Blue Baron.
In addition to Blue Baron, AAJ's new set of officers includes President-Elect Larry Tawwater of the Tawwater Law Firm, P.L.L.C., in Oklahoma City, Okla.; Vice-President Julie Braman Kane of Colson Hicks Eidson in Coral Gables, Fla.; Secretary Kathleen Nastri of Koskoff Koskoff & Bieder, PC in Bridgeport, Conn.; Treasurer Elise Sanguinetti of Sanguinetti Law in Oakland, Calif.; and Parliamentarian Bruce H. Stern of Stark & Stark of Lawrenceville, NJ.
