AVON, Conn., May 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Entrepreneur Lisa Wilson-Foley has been named Business Leader of the year in Hartford Magazine's Best of 2011 issue. Readers complete the poll each year. Wilson-Foley is a leader in the healthcare field. She owns AllStar Therapy, a rehabilitation company, SDX, a swallowing diagnostic business and Apple Rehab Sport & Spa, a holistic wellness center. She also owns Blue Fox Enterprises which includes Blue Fox Run Golf Course and Blue Fox Rockn' Bowl. She employs 550 people. In June, she will open her newest business, Medstat, an institutional pharmacy. Medstat will create 50 new, professional jobs.
Wilson-Foley is a business trendsetter and innovator. Her medical companies provide high tech mobile testing services using cutting edge technology. She was the first in the country to offer on-site child-care at her public golf course. Her bowling center was the first in the state to ban smoking.
Wilson-Foley was honored as INC Magazine's Entrepreneur of the Year for Southern New England in 1997 and has been featured in Time Magazine, The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. She has received prestigious awards from The March of Dimes, Junior Achievement and the UConn School of Business.
Lisa Wilson-Foley has lived in Farmington Valley for nearly five decades. She and her husband Brian live in Simsbury with their children.
