Living Beyond Breast Cancer Opens Registration For Sept 27th Fall Conference In Philadelphia
"Individual Treatments, Shared Experiences" Offers New 3-Track Format to Meet Specific Needs
PHILADELPHIA, July 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Living Beyond Breast Cancer (LBBC), the national education and support organization, has opened registration for its 22nd annual fall conference, to be held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia on Saturday, September 27, 2014. Breast Cancer Today: Individual Treatments, Shared Experiences will feature programming developed in collaboration with the country's most respected oncology and wellness professionals. General session speakers include: Virginia Borges, MD, MMSc, director, Young Women's Breast Cancer Translational Program, University of Colorado Cancer Center; Lu Ann Cahn, reporter, WCAU-TV, cancer survivor and author of the inspirational memoir, I Dare Me (PERIGEE: 2014); Clifford A. Hudis, MD; Chief, Breast Cancer Medicine Service, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center; Rita Nanda, MD, Associate Director, Breast Medical Oncology Program, University of Chicago Medicine; and Marisa C. Weiss, MD, president and founder, Breastcancer.org.
A limited number of travel grants and conference fee waivers will be made available for those who qualify.
In order to meet the growing needs of women who have questions surrounding a particular type of breast cancer, participants will be able to customize the conference experience by selecting which general sessions, presentations and breakouts they wish to attend. In addition, the conference will offer tracks specific to three types of breast cancer:
- Triple-negative, for those whose cancer is estrogen-, progesterone- and HER2-negative (this track presented in partnership with Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation);
- Hormone receptor-positive or HER2+, for those with hormone-positive, HER2-positive breast cancer, or both; and
- Metastatic, for those managing all types of stage IV disease.

"Our attendees can follow one of our breast-cancer-specific tracks or they can attend sessions on topics of their choosing. These will include workshops and discussion groups for young women, women at high risk for developing breast cancer, and healthcare providers seeking to better understand the psychosocial needs of people impacted by the disease."
