CHICAGO, April 4, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- LKQ Corporation, the nation's largest distributor of aftermarket and recycled automotive parts, has created a new department to provide its products to state, local and federal government entities at competitive prices. The new program enables the government to save up to 40 percent or more on vehicle repair parts. Such products include wheels, lighting, sheet metal, bumpers, remanufactured engines and transmissions, paint and body supplies and other associated components.
As it assembled its new department, LKQ Corporation met with various government entities including city and county garages, state representatives, U.S. congressmen and governmental procurement decision makers. Most government agencies were unaware of LKQ Corporation's competitive parts offerings and now have the opportunity to realize significant cost savings and conserve valuable resources by utilizing reused and remanufactured parts.
Discussions with government officials have given LKQ Corporation a deep understanding of the various entities' product needs and requirements. For example, discussions with law enforcement led to creation of the Key-Cops Discount Automotive Repair Parts Program, which will supply competitively priced replacement parts for police cruisers.
"We have a solution that will significantly reduce repair costs for all governmental agencies and save taxpayer dollars without compromising product quality and vehicle safety," said Terry Fortner, LKQ's Vice President of Industry Relations and Market Development who is leading the new Government Sales Department. "Our catalogue of 70,000-plus unique parts, geographic coverage of the entire country, excellent warranties and competitive pricing provide tremendous advantages over new original equipment company car parts."
Fortner added: "The savings over original equipment parts can be 40% or greater. Our dedicated staff is proud of this opportunity to be of service to our officials and the greater American public."
