Lloyd Carr, George Perles, Alumni Players, Marching Bands Promote Mentoring At VIP Mentoring's Coaches for Kids Maize 'N' Green Tailgate At Ford Field
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 30, 2013 BEGINNING AT 5:30PM
DETROIT, Oct. 21, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Former University of Michigan head football coach Lloyd Carr, former Michigan State University head football coach George Perles and various alumni players will gather to promote coaching and mentoring youth at the Coaches for Kids Maize 'N' Green Tailgate benefitting VIP Mentoring at Ford Field in Detroit on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 beginning at 5:30pm. The event will also include performances by the Michigan State University Marching Band and the University of Michigan Fanfare Marching Band in Ford Field's Atrium. Alumni players will be introduced in "maize" and "green" huddles at the event.
The event will include a rally to guests regarding the VIP Mentoring mission and vision. Carol Goss, President of The Skillman Foundation, will be honored with the "Heroes for Our Children: Lift Them Up" award. WDIV Reporter Ashlee Baracy will serve as master of ceremonies for the event. Entertainment by The Carr Center Jazz Ensemble, live and silent auctions, a photo station, tours of Ford Field, as well as other friendly activities between the "maize" and "green" guests will also take place.
"This is always an exciting week of college football across our state, and hosting Lloyd Carr, George Perles, the marching bands and alumni players at our maize 'n' green tailgate is very special," said VIP Mentoring President and CEO Jerry Dash. "Both coaches, along with Carol Goss, know firsthand about mentoring youth, and their personal stories can help further our mission and make for a truly unique event."
The Presenting Sponsor is Lear Corporation, and other major sponsors include Matcor Automotive Inc., Netlink Foundation and other businesses. This is the second year of the event, with the dollars raised from the festivities going directly to the VIP Mentoring program.
