CLEVELAND, April 25, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Litigation Management, Inc. Founding the company in 1984, CEO Elizabeth B. Juliano created an entirely new "service" category in the legal industry. "There was a need for a specialized medical records management function," she says. Juliano, in the early 1980s, was working as a paralegal for several attorneys defending asbestos litigation cases. "I found that focusing on managing the medical aspects of the litigation allowed the attorneys to focus their time on legal strategy," she adds. The creation of LMI gave birth to the ever-changing medical information management industry of today.

Opportunity came to LMI in 1992 when Juliano won the bid to manage all of the medical records affiliated with the thousands of cases across the country against Dow Corning and the company's silicone breast implants. Managing its first national mass tort project provided LMI and Juliano the opportunity for a valuable insight: though both are focused on the same litigation, the information requirements of defense counsel and in house counsel can be very different. LMI relies on this same insight and experience in managing current projects.

Today, LMI remains a privately owned business, with Sonya S. Virant serving as President and Chief Operating Officer.
