Local Austin Teen Inspires Others to Help Kids in Need, Especially in Today's Troubled Economic Environment
One teen's dream inspires kids to get involved and lend a hand to less fortunate kids.
AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Parth Vakil is no ordinary teenager. He's not only wise beyond his years—he is on a mission to make a difference in the world.
Parth is a visionary and an entrepreneur, who founded the nonprofit youth charity organization, Karma for Kids, in 2009. Through Karma for Kids, Parth inspires other youth and teens in Austin, Texas to volunteer their time and join his effort to help out underprivileged kids and those who are less fortunate.
Parth encourages youngsters to participate in his effort where he organizes athletic camps, basketball games, and sports events. The young ones help out with set-ups, concession stands, clean-ups at sports camps. Parth's love for basketball and sports in general makes him focus more on athletic related activities. 100% of the money raised is donated to children's charities.
Currently Parth is coaching St. Stephen's Episcopal School's 7th grade Fall League team. "Time has been the biggest challenge for me; juggling with school, maintaining honor grades, working out at my own training and practices for basketball, plus this," says Parth. He has been a certified basketball coach for kids since 2009 and has donated his time and attention to coaching and mentoring kids since then.
Parth Vakil was inspired to create Karma for Kids after visiting a South Austin Boys and Girls Club and realizing that there were less fortunate kids in need of a helping hand. He inspires his peers and younger youth to get involved in his Karma for Kids organization and volunteer to help other Austin underprivileged kids.
Parth believes that through a little "karma," he can continue to make a difference in the world and expand the reach of Karma for Kids. He says, "I'm fortunate to live in a community where we not only have everything we need, but almost everything we want. But that is not true for many, many children in this country and around the globe. Karma for Kids is my small effort to change that."
