Local Countertop Fabricator Offers Free Material During Month of May; Proceeds to Benefit SafeHouse of Seminole
Female-owned and operated business looks for a way to give back during the month of May
ORLANDO, Fla., May 9, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- NSM Florida Enterprises, known as NSMotif, is an independently-run, female-owned, countertop fabrication company in Central Florida. During the month of May, in celebration of Mother's Day, NSM is running a special promotion where customers can select countertop material free of charge and only pay labor costs for their project. As a survivor of domestic abuse, this charity is close to Karen's heart. An advocate for other business women and those who face unfortunate and sometimes dangerous circumstances, she is eager to support an organization that boosts the confidence and self-sufficiency of other women like herself.
Karen is the mother of three children and has two granddaughters. "I want to teach my children, and especially my granddaughters, to be empowered to pursue their dreams — but most importantly, to focus on serving and supporting others through their personal lives and work," she stated.
Karen began to build the foundation for NSM after discovering how complicated the countertop buying process was and the need for a company that would hold each customer's hand through the process of material selection, budgeting, estimating, measuring and, most importantly, installation.
NSM's mission is straightforward and two-fold:
- Educate consumers and A&D professionals about the features and benefits of all the surfacing options available on the market so they feel comfortable with their individual selection.
- Create a relationship with each client to ensure all the work done in their home or commercial space is carried out in the safest and most professional way, with communication and satisfaction as top priority.
"I have a passion for helping others, and design is a very personal thing. NSM aims to offer great surfacing products, including quartz, granite and solid surface, so we can help customers build the beautiful spaces they envision, from the smallest bath to the largest hotel," Karen said.
With the support of her family and professional organizations like The Rockhead Group, Karen has established one of the highest-producing surfacing companies in Florida, working on thousands of homes in the Orlando area and large commercial projects, including some of the newest installations for Disney. Helping to carry out her vision year after year, Stephen, Karen's son, oversees the company's operations and customer experience and her youngest daughter, Sarah, does the purchasing.
Karen is an inspiration to women in the workforce, particularly in the male-dominated surfacing industry. She is an accredited member of the Marble Institute of America's Women in Stone Council. "Sometimes you have to create your own opportunities, but that doesn't mean you can or should do it alone," Karen noted.
"Before learning all I have about the stone industry, I had to experience firsthand the challenges of getting work done in order to realize there was a need. Having been exposed to those scenarios, I'm able to proactively close the gap with my business," she added. "Offering something not every fabricator does, setting NSM apart."
