Local Physicians Open Healient Physician Group

LEAWOOD, Kan., June 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Healient Physician Group, a local physician-owned multi-specialty group, is proud to announce its opening at 4801 College Boulevard.

Created with a goal to provide excellent service, the group is formed by five local physicians who provide care to patients with cardiac problems, peripheral vascular problems, wound healing and vein problems, and to patients with radiology or interventional radiology needs.

"Because of our size and management philosophy, we are able to deliver care to patients on a relational level, one which is hard to match," David Burkart, M.D. shared. Burkart graduated from the University of Missouri, Kansas City (UMKC) and has worked for Mayo Clinic and the University of Indiana. "Our goal is to treat patients the way we would want to be treated, with compassion, empathy and respect." Partnering with Burkart at the physician-owned managed practice is Craig Lundgren, M.D., Edward MacInerney,Jr., M.D., Gerald Mancuso, M.D. and Thad Stephens, M.D.

All of the physicians in the group have worked in healthcare and in the Kansas City area for years. "Collectively we have practiced medicine for almost a century and believe there is a better way, one which puts the patient back in the center of care," Mancuso shared. "This reminds me of how healthcare was twenty years ago, more personal care, individualized attention—a physician and patient relationship. This is why we became physicians, to heal patients."

The name Healient is a combination of the words, healing and patients. "Healient is a reflection of our goals for the practice, healing patients," Mancuso said. "We created the group to be a favorable alternative for patients, one which results in better and more personal care. We are not going to be limited to whom we see nor how much time we spend with our patients."

Healient Physician Group opened its doors to the public in June with a larger vision to expand the practice by adding more specialists and offerings in the near future.
