SEATTLE, Feb. 25, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Lockerz, a social commerce company with nearly 18 million members worldwide, today announced its first-ever photo sharing experience. Members can now post, share, “Like” and comment on photos. Uniquely, Lockerz members earn PTZ® that can be turned into discounts on great brands when they upload photos. In the second phase of this feature launching soon, members will also earn PTZ when friends “Like” and comment on their photos. The second phase will also enable photos posted on Lockerz to be shared with virtually all other major social networks.
“As always, Lockerz is rewarding its members for doing what they love online,” said Kathy Savitt, founder and CEO of Lockerz. “Photo sharing is one of the most popular online activities for our members. Now, photo sharing is both social and rewarding, adding to the many ways to earn PTZ for big discounts on the brands our members want.”
In today’s launch, members can upload their photos, “Like” and comment on friends’ photos, as well as view the Lockerz Photos celebrity feed. There are more than 300 celebrities in the feed that are relevant to Generation Z, including Justin Bieber, LeBron James, Snoop Dogg, Kim Kardashian, Nicole Richie, Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore, Rihanna and Will.i.am to name a few. Members can “Like” and comment on celebrity photos as well.
The Lockerz Photo Challenge
To celebrate the launch of Lockerz Photos, Lockerz is hosting a series of Lockerz Photo Challenges in which members submit photos of their favorite outfit, best Ninja move, best friend, etc. Lockerz editors select three finalists for each Challenge, and one grand prize winner will be chosen by Lockerz members. Each winner receives 5,000 PTZ, enough to drive discounts of up to 40% in Lockerz SHOP. Today, Lockerz members will select the grand prize winner for best smile from three finalists (photo attached). There are four additional challenges planned, the next starting Monday, March 1.
PTZ are the discount fuel of Lockerz -- the ultimate rewards program for Generation Z. Lockerz Members can earn PTZ in more than 10 ways, including uploading photos, answering “Dailies” (one-question polls), watching videos, listening to music, inviting friends, or just logging in. PTZ are then used to lower the prices of merchandise in the Lockerz SHOP. The more PTZ a member earns and decides to use, the larger the discount, which can be up to 100%.
Based in Seattle, Lockerz' mission is to be the homepage for men and women ages 13 to 30, building a community of nearly 18 million trendsetters and tastemakers who love to shop, play and connect on the Web. Lockerz rewards members for doing what they love online, offering major discounts on the coolest fashions, electronics, music and more. Members earn PTZ® (Points) by watching videos, listening to music and inviting friends. Lockerz PTZ are then used to lower the prices of merchandise at-will. Lockerz was founded by former technology and retail executive Kathy Savitt, and is backed by Liberty Media Corporation and Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers.
