Loco Gecko to donate 25 percent of sales to American Cancer Society

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C., Oct. 25, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Loco Gecko is teaming up with the American Cancer Society to raise funds to fight breast cancer.

For four days Loco Gecko will contribute 25 percent of all gross sales from those days to the American Cancer Society.

"We are excited to help in any possible way to fight breast cancer," said Matt Klugman of Loco Gecko. "In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month we felt that this was an appropriate fundraiser for us to do."

The fundraising event will take place from Oct. 29 to Nov. 1. Patrons can also make donations to the cause.

It is estimated that more than 200,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year.

"It is important to us to take a stand against these staggering numbers," said Klugman. "Money raised will help forward important treatment and help save lives."

The restaurant staff will be wearing pink to promote breast cancer awareness during these dates, said Klugman.

"Our cooks, servers and managers are very excited to be involved in this," said Klugman. "Most all have been touched by breast cancer in some way, shape or form."

Patrons are also encouraged to wear pink to show their support, said Klugman.

Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Brownies will also be sold during the fundraiser, with all proceeds going towards the American Cancer Society and will feature pink icing.

"We hope everyone will join us for a fun time and help us fight breast cancer," said Klugman.
