NEW YORK, Nov. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Melissa Giannini has been named editor-in-chief of NYLON, effective immediately. The announcement was made by Paul Greenberg, CEO of NYLON. Giannini will be succeeding the position held by Michelle Lee. Lee announced today she will be departing.

"We're thrilled to have an experienced editor like Melissa move into this role so we can ensure a seamless transition. She is the perfect person for the position, as she fully understands the NYLON brand with her tailored editorial background and time with the company specifically. At the same time, we thank Michelle for her superb work at NYLON and wish her the best," said Greenberg.

Giannini is a seasoned editor and writer and has been a long-time employee of NYLON, most recently serving as Deputy Editor. She has extensive media experience of over 15 years, including time prior at SPIN, as well as several lifestyle and music leaning publications, giving her precise experience in NYLON's core focuses.

She has authored some of the most popular cover stories in recent years including highly circulated interviews with Lana Del Rey, Charli XCX and, most recently, Grimes. "I am a massive fan of the NYLON brand and a firm believer in its print arm. I am constantly inspired by our dedicated readers' creativity as well as by my incredibly smart, passionate colleagues, and I couldn't be more excited about all we have planned for 2016 and beyond," said Giannini.

Giannini has a bachelor's degree in Journalism from Michigan State University and an MFA in Creative Writing from Bennington College.

NYLON Chief Revenue Officer Sean Cullinane added, "Our massive growth on the digital front in 2015 has been supported in many ways by the brand equity and quality content the magazine continues to deliver. Melissa's passion for NYLON is evident and I'm excited that she's taking the reins now as editorial driven native and branded content emerge as major revenue drivers across all our platforms."

NYLON set another traffic record in September with 4.2 million organic unique visitors to nylon.com, up from 500,000 just one year ago. The company continues to grow, consistently reporting record-breaking numbers and drastic increases with its multiple successful arms and proven triumphs with focus on native advertising.
