Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Elder Housing Corporation Honored at 2012 American Society on Aging Conference for Its Comprehensive Housing Care Program
LOS ANGELES, April 5, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Gay and Lesbian Elder Housing Corporation (GLEH), the first affordable housing apartment complex in the nation serving low income lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender (LGBT) elders, was honored in Washington, D.C. with an Excellence in Multicultural Aging Award at the 2012 American Society on Aging Conference for its Comprehensive Housing Care Program. The conference, with more than 3,000 attendees, is recognized as a showcase for programs and projects that can be replicated, a forum for policy discussion and advocacy, and a prime source of information on new research findings in aging.
"We are thrilled to be honored with this award, as the reputation of GLEH, its vision and its programs continue to advance elderly LGBT equality," said Eric Harrison, Executive Director. "With the elderly LGBT community still being denied safe and secure environments across the country, GLEH has set the standard for elderly LGBT care."
GLEH's Comprehensive Housing Care Program addresses the social service components of housing retention, income, health and wellness. The program's integrated model and coordinated approach identifies individual need and tailors the delivery of social services with an individual plan of care.
