NEW YORK, Oct. 21, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Louis Royer, an iconic Cognac house dating to 1853 and led by the fifth generation of its founding family, today announces the six finalists of the 4th "Show Me the Proof!" High Proof Cognac Cocktail Competition. The finalists were chosen from across the U.S. and represent New York and Dallas. Their recipes range from aperitifs to nightcaps, original concepts to riffs on classics like the Sour, Old Pal and Vieux Carre, with inspirations from the seasonal to the whimsical. The competition salutes Louis Royer "Force 53" VSOP Fine Champagne Cognac, which is the pioneer of the now-popular overproof Cognac trend.
The finalists will compete in New York City at Porchlight bar on Monday, November 2, 2015. The Grand Prize is an all-expense paid trip to Jarnac and Paris in France, as well as $1,000.00 in cash prizes for both second and third places.
The six finalists, in first-name alphabetical order, are as follows:

The judging panel consists of:
- Dale DeGroff – Legendary mixologist and founder of the Museum of the American Cocktail
- Paul Pacult – Noted spirits critic and publisher/editor of The Spirit Journal
- Steve Olson – Founder of aka wine geek and renowned spirits, wine and cocktail expert
- Jack Robertiello – Widely-respected spirits and cocktail writer
- Jerome Royer – Louis Royer Cognac's Master Selector and a fifth-generation family member
Timothy Miner (Long Island Bar, Brooklyn, N.Y.), who won the Grand Prize at last year's cocktail competition, will serve as an honorary judge.
