Louisiana Technology Park Welcomes BitRaider to Louisiana

LOS ANGELES, June 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- At the 2011 E3 Expo, Louisiana Technology Park announced the addition of their newest member company, BitRaider, LLC. Today's announcement comes just days after BitRaider CEO Royal O'Brien joined Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and East Baton Rouge Parish Mayor-President Kip Holden in confirming that BitRaider would be locating its headquarters in Baton Rouge. Delivering what O'Brien calls "Netflix-style" streaming for video games, BitRaider plans to hire more than 20 people. BitRaider joins Firebrand Games, also located at the Louisiana Technology Park, and Electronic Art's North American Quality Assurance Testing Center as the latest editions to Baton Rouge's digital media landscape.

Jindal said, "This is yet another example of emerging companies in digital media who see the attractiveness of Louisiana's support for this sector and use local assets such as the Louisiana Technology Park to expand digital software development. The high-paying jobs that accompany these innovative digital ventures also mean more opportunities for our children to find high-paying careers right here in Louisiana."

In addition to Louisiana's unique culture, and the shared services found at the Louisiana Technology Park, BitRaider chose Louisiana because of its industry leading digital media tax incentive program. The firm is expected to make use of the program, which offers up to a 35 percent return for digital media and software production work done in the state. Company officials also plan to apply for Louisiana's Research and Development Tax Credit as well.

BitRaider's patented technology allows customers to begin playing online video games within minutes with multiple players while other parts of the game download in the background. The expedited download can save game players hours and helps game developers attract and retain more users.

Besides Florida and other states, BitRaider considered a move to Canada, where digital media tax credits are available, but the company found a more complete package in Baton Rouge.
