Lozano Smith Foundation Supports National Bullying Prevention Month with the 2016 Bullying Prevention Program Award
FRESNO, Calif., Oct. 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Based on its belief that all children should have the opportunity to reach their full potential in a safe learning environment, the Lozano Smith Foundation announced the 2016 Bullying Prevention Program Award. As part of National Bullying Prevention Month, this award will recognize six public school district programs in California that demonstrate a concerted strategy to raise awareness and prevention of bullying.
"Bullying is a serious concern, and school districts throughout California are making remarkable progress in integrating bullying prevention and intervention strategies in their schools," said Karen Rezendes, Managing Partner of Lozano Smith and a member of the Board of Directors of the Lozano Smith Foundation. "Our mission is to honor outstanding programs throughout the State and continue the conversation about the importance of anti-bullying initiatives. As a law firm dedicated to education law, this program award is a reflection of the hope that we have for our students – a positive, safe learning environment on each and every campus."
The Lozano Smith Foundation is accepting nominations from school districts until October 27, 2016. Nominations are expected to address how programs demonstrate success, such as student involvement, community partnerships, increase in student and employee morale, and data or measurements that reflect a reduction in bullying complaints and occurrences. Two school districts will be recognized and provided with a $1,500 award designated for an individual school's anti-bullying program, and an additional four school districts will be provided with a $500 award designated for an individual school's anti-bullying program.
