WALTHAM, Mass., Oct. 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- This October, in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Lycos, Inc. has partnered with the Ellie Fund to promote its "Do Good Campaign." Lycos is one among more than thirty local companies donating resources and a percentage of sales during the month to help local families fight breast cancer. The Lycos.com homepage has been given a pink makeover in the style of the Ellie Fund logo and promotions have been placed on Lycos properties, including Gamesville.com, to drive visitors to give donations. Just one donation of as little as $25 provides 5 dinners while a donation of $500 can support a family for an entire month.

"Lycos is honored to join the Ellie Fund in its efforts towards raising awareness for the fight against breast cancer," says Lycos' CEO, Rob Balazy. "Using our highly visible properties, we are happy to increase national awareness for a local cause. We find it incredibly important to inform our members of the Ellie Fund since a high percentage of our users are women, with Gamesville.com having the highest amount at over 80%. We strongly support the Ellie Fund's mission of helping local families with their immediate needs while they're undergoing treatment for breast cancer, and are proud to drive as much awareness as possible to their website."
"We are seeing increased site traffic and inquiries stemming from our new partnership with Lycos," says Ellie Fund Executive Director Julie Nations. "The awareness we generate through this campaign will help us provide critical support services free of charge to hundreds of families across Massachusetts, including transportation to medical appointments, childcare, housekeeping, groceries and delivered meals."
The Ellie Fund is a 501 (c)3 non-profit founded in 1995 by brothers Jeff and Eliot Popkin to honor their mother's courageous battle against breast cancer and the giving spirit she exhibited through life. "We are honored to work with so many wonderful companies for our Do Good Campaign this year," says Ellie Fund Founder/President Jeff Popkin, "It is a pleasure to carry on my Mother's legacy and help so many families during this trying time in their lives." While the Ellie Fund is a local Massachusetts organization, Lycos wanted to share the story and mission of the organization with the international Lycos community.
