LymeCoaching.com Revolutionizes Lyme Disease Care By Providing Easy Access To Broad-Spectrum Expertise And Support
LAUNCHING TODAY, THE COMPANY DELIVERS NATIONWIDE TELECOACHING BY LYME EXPERTS TRAINED IN DIVERSE DISCIPLINES AND MODALITIES
SAN FRANCISCO, June 25, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Serial entrepreneur Stuart Skorman (Wikipedia) and his wife, Lyme expert Diana Rocha, launched LymeCoaching today to provide comprehensive telecoaching services to Lyme patients across the country. For the first time, Lyme patients will have easy access to the broad-spectrum expertise and emotional support often needed to recover from this complex disease. LymeCoaching delivers its services via phone, Skype, video conferencing and smart phone technology.
For the beta launch, LymeCoaching has recruited 25 experienced Lyme-literate practitioners and five Lyme support group leaders. Together they provide comprehensive treatment, lifestyle recommendations and emotional support telecoaching.
"These carefully vetted coaches have backgrounds in a variety of healthcare disciplines and modalities," says LymeCoaching cofounder Diana Rocha. "They educate chronic Lyme patients in all aspects of the disease and provide emotional support. Some have achieved remission from Lyme themselves and are committed to sharing their success stories."
"Diana and I learned how much help Lyme patients require after we founded Elephant Pharmacy (NYTimes) in Berkeley," says cofounder Stuart Skorman. "We are dedicated to continuing the groundbreaking community wellness work we began at Elephant by focusing on the specific needs of the chronic Lyme community."
LymeCoaching cofounder Rocha, a Lyme management coach since 2002, notes that the majority of chronic Lyme patients need access to more expertise and emotional support. "A major obstacle to treatment is that many patients live in areas with few or no Lyme-literate practitioners. Others are too sick to travel to local doctors as often as needed. Our service will revolutionize Lyme care for patients regardless of their location or situation."
Diagnosed with a severe case of chronic Lyme 13 years ago, Rocha was treated by a variety of experienced Lyme-literate practitioners. She attributes her recovery to the diverse expertise of these practitioners and the various modalities they employed. The other major factor in her recovery was that she had a strong emotional support network in place during treatment.
Rocha and Skorman believe that thousands of chronic Lyme patients will benefit from this team approach for Lyme treatment. The two are already expanding the LymeCoaching network by bringing more Lyme experts on board. Over time, new services will be added to better serve the Lyme community.
About Stuart Skorman
Skorman (Wikipedia) is best known for founding Reel.com (NYTimes). However, he believes Elephant Pharmacy (NYTimes) is the most important start-up he has founded because of its positive impact on healthcare – both in the San Francisco Bay Area and nationally. CVS Health, which purchased Elephant, recently became the first national pharmacy chain to discontinue cigarette sales partly due to its experience with Elephant's wellness-focused business model.
About Diana Rocha
Rocha has been dedicated to coaching Lyme patients since she began treatment for chronic Lyme disease 13 years ago. She is passionate about helping Lyme patients access the expertise and emotional support they need because she knows first-hand how devastating this disease can be. Rocha co-founded Elephant Pharmacy in 2002 and founded the San Francisco Lyme Support Group in 2007.
