Lymphoma Research Foundation Announces International T-Cell Lymphomas Consortium

New initiative will unite researchers worldwide to accelerate progress in rare and aggressive T-cell lymphomas

NEW YORK, Sept. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The Lymphoma Research Foundation today announced the launch of the International T-cell Lymphomas Consortium, a new global research initiative bringing together experts across disciplines to advance the study of T-cell lymphomas and improve treatments and outcomes for patients.

T-cell lymphomas are rare and often aggressive blood cancers that remain among the most challenging lymphomas to diagnose and treat. Compared with more common forms of lymphoma, they have historically received less research funding and drug development, resulting in fewer approved therapies and limited treatment options for patients.

"The launch of the Consortium reflects our commitment to ensuring T-cell lymphoma receives the focused attention necessary to drive meaningful advancement for patients."

The Consortium will bring together laboratory, translational and clinical researchers around a shared goal to work together to break down barriers that have slowed progress in T-cell lymphoma research. Its work will focus on three major areas: strengthening research infrastructure, improving clinical research and supporting greater collaboration across the field.

The initiative builds on the Foundation's inaugural T-Cell Lymphomas International Scientific Workshop, held in New York City in March 2025. There, leading physicians, scientists and patient advocates identified persistent challenges in T-cell lymphoma research and developed a roadmap for addressing them. The Consortium will provide a structure for carrying that work forward.

"The inaugural workshop demonstrated both the progress being made in T-cell lymphoma research and the challenges that remain," said Steven M. "It also reinforced how much we can accomplish when researchers and institutions work together. We now have the opportunity to build on that momentum and turn our priorities into sustained action and results for our patients and the field."

Initial Consortium activities will include establishing working groups and action plans around priority research areas, advancing publication of proceedings from the 2025 workshop and planning for the next International T-cell Consortium Workshop in spring 2027. The Consortium will also establish the Lymphoma Hub, an open forum designed to foster ongoing discussion and collaboration across the broader T-cell lymphoma community.
