Maddak, Inc. Reinvents the Wheel Taking Home Two Major Industry Awards
Morph Wheels Received MedTrade Spring's Innovation Award in the U.S. and London's Design of the Year Award
EDISON, N.J., May 2, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Maddak, Inc., the largest manufacturer of Aids for Daily Living (ADL) products in the U.S., launched the first-ever foldable wheelchair wheel, Morph Wheels, in February of this year. In approximately three months' time, the groundbreaking innovation for the disability community has been honored with two leading industry awards: MedTrade Spring's Innovation Award and 2013' Design of the Year Award in the Transportation category from London's Design Museum.
Originally conceptualized as a folding bicycle wheel by Duncan Fitzsimmons, a graduate student at the Royal College of Arts in London at the time, the Morph Wheel is designed to revolutionize the daily lives of manual wheelchair users.
"When we began developing Morph Wheels over three years ago, innovation and design were both major priorities. It's such an honor for us at Maddak to be recognized in both areas by leaders in these categories," explains Kathleen Hanek, Director of Operations and Product Management at Maddak Inc.
Medtrade is the largest tradeshow in the U.S. focused exclusively on the home medical equipment market. And for 22 years, the Design Museum has championed creative thinking and inspired problem solving, celebrating the talent of the world's best designers and architects.
Maddak will be exhibiting Morph Wheels at this weekend's Abilities NY Metro Expo at New Jersey's Convention Center from May 3 – May 5.
Morph Wheels are currently available and retail for $950 per set, which includes the rim, hand rim and solid tire. They can be purchased at http://morphwheels.com/.
