REHOVOT, Israel, April 4, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --
Magos systems, a leading designer and manufacturer of state of the art affordable Radars that revolutionize the way perimeter security is viewed has won the 3C Smart City challenge for the smart city of Croatá being built in Brazil.
Magos Radar will be deployed in the Smart city project both at the construction phase of the project and the safe keeping of the city later on.
The company beat twelve Israeli tech firms participated in the final stage of the Challenge held in Tel Aviv with cooperation from the Brazilian government, Italian group Planet Idea, the Tel Aviv University and Tyco Innovation.
According to Research firm MarketsandMarkets estimation, the "smart cities" sector will reach revenue of $1.1 trillion in 2019. What makes a city "smart"? A series of technologies which provide improved resource management in an urban environment.
Radar technology has been around since WWII and ever since it has become the preferred perimeter security means by armies worldwide, since radars exhibit superior detection performance in all weather and lighting conditions.
However radars traditionally were used only by military and governmental institutes as such systems were considered high-end, expensive, complex and required regular maintenance and this is the point where Magos advanced affordable radars come into play.
Magos offers highly advanced, solid state radars for perimeter security applications at a low cost with minimum installation and maintenance requirements, and has a worldwide footprint including cooperation with FLIR Systems, Tyco Security, Panasonic and other large scale security firms and integrators.

Magos will exhibit its unique affordable radars at the ISC West security show in Las-Vegas April 6-8 in booth 35061.
Magos' affordable radars are suitable for a wide variety of security applications and are already installed in facilities ranging from Oil\Gas production sites through US Utility Substations and in small sites such as car lots and protected neighborhoods.
Magos Radars are optimal for today's rising need for Power and utility substation perimeter protection, following the Metcalf incident in 2013 where terrorists launched a full scale attack on the Metcalf power substation in CA.
Magos Radars have detection ranges of up to 400m for Person and 600m for vehicle or boat and can even detect a drone at up to 100m, it has low power consumption(<3.5W), high range resolution(40 centimeters) which increases detection performance in highly cluttered environments and with 120-360 degree coverage depending on the model.
These capabilities when put together with PTZ cameras in one system pose an alternative superior in price and performance to any other perimeter detection and protection solution in the market and is easily integrated with existing security systems.
