Major General James P. Hunt, (USAF, Retired) Named Vice President, Director of Air Force Operations at ESN

Hunt, (USAF, Retired) has been named Vice President, Director of Air Force Operations at ESN based in Arlington, VA.

Gen. Hunt retired from the U.S. Air Force after nearly four decades of service, most recently as Deputy Commanding General, I Corps, U.S. Forces-Iraq, Baghdad, Iraq.

Before retiring from the USAF, Gen. Hunt served as second-in-command of 130,000 military personnel during combat operations and was responsible for I Corps' coordination and integration at the tactical and operational level with interagency partners, including the U.S. Embassy in Iraq, the U.S. Agency for International Development and non-governmental organizations.
He was responsible for coordination between U.S. military and other U.S. agencies to improve Iraq civil capacity and governance. He was responsible for four Army aviation brigades, totaling more than 10,000 personnel.
Previously, he was the director of Air Force Quadrennial Defense Review and developed an overall Air Force strategy vetted by major commands and senior advisory council.
From 2006 to 2009, Gen. Hunt was Director of Air, Space and Information Operations, U.S. Air Forces in Europe, in Ramstein Air Base, Germany. There, he was responsible for all USAF aviation operations in Europe and was instrumental in developing air capabilities of developing NATO air forces and improving NATO and USAF training facilities and opportunities throughout Europe.
The three-time wing commander also served as Deputy Director for Force Application, Directorate of Force Structure, Resources, and Assessment (J8), Joint Staff, and as Director, Air Component Coordination Element, Afghanistan and Commander, 455th Air Expeditionary Wing.
