An election season as crazy as this year's might seem a strange time to learn how to think clearly. But all of the techniques used to understand and persuade (from logic and argumentation, to rhetorical devices and fallacies, to media-and information-literacy) are never more on display than they are during an election cycle. Critical Voter uses the experience of an election campaign to provide easy-to-understand lessons on how to master critical thinking techniques in order to debunk bunk, convince and persuade, and make better life decisions.
"To help even the playing field between the candidates, I've delivered copies of Critical Voter to each of the presidential campaigns," says author Jonathan Haber. "But the lessons provided in the book for 'we the people' go beyond politics and can lead to a more successful career, better grades, even a happier life."
"Jonathan Haber has written the literary equivalent of a powerful vaccine," says Jay Heinrichs, author of the best-selling Thank You for Arguing: What Aristotle, Lincoln and Homer Simpson Can Teach Us About the Art of Persuasion. "In this case, the disease is an electorate manipulated by media, politicians and zillionaires."
