Manhattan Investment Banker Teaches the Principles of Achievement and Inspires Ocean Awareness in a New Children's Picture Book Series
NEW YORK, Nov. 17, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- "Why would a New York lawyer and investment banker write a children's book?"
Brooks Olbrys, author of The Adventures of Blue Ocean Bob, did not plan to write a children's book, let alone a rhyming picture book series. But his personal interest in the philosophies of success combined with his experience reading picture books to his young son led him to a novel idea. He should translate the timeless principles of achievement as taught by authors such as Napoleon Hill, Earl Nightingale and Bob Proctor into a fun, character-driven, rhyming picture book series that would also communicate a positive message for protecting our oceans and sea life. So, he created a series where a young island boy, Blue Ocean Bob, learns these valuable lessons from the sea creatures and an old, wise turtle named "Doc" in particular.
One year ago, Brooks presented his idea to best-selling author and personal development expert Bob Proctor at an event celebrating the 100th Anniversary of Napoleon Hill's prosperity classic, Think and Grow Rich. Bob surprised Brooks when he replied, "That is a great idea. You have all the information and a 5-year old son to inspire you. Why don't you do it?"
Brooks accepted the challenge and the result is Blue Ocean Bob Discovers His Purpose, illustrated by Aleksandra Beaucher. Written as a ten-volume series, the stories reveal lessons on purpose, vision, goals, attitude, persistence, confidence, communication, gratitude, responsibility and success as Blue Ocean Bob grows into the Island of Roses' newest marine biologist.
As Brian Biro, author of Beyond Success, writes, "Your children will love these delightful stories and the simple but profound principles they reveal will be with them for a lifetime!"
Blue Ocean Bob Discovers His Purpose, a companion memory-card game, an online memory game, and more information on the series are available at http://www.blueoceanbob.com.
Brooks Olbrys is a graduate of Stanford University, the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts and UC-Berkeley's Law School. He is a partner at investment bank Ion Partners in New York.
Originally from Poland, Aleksandra Beaucher began her professional art career in 2007 as a painter and portrait artist. Blue Ocean Bob Discovers His Purpose is Aleksandra's debut as a children's picture book illustrator.
