Marchpool Announces 'Dance of the Digital Decade 2002-2011

SAN JOSE, Calif., March 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Marchpool.com released a comprehensive list of the 68 'best bodies of work' amongst all Men's D1 basketball programs over the decade spanning from 2002 thru 2011. Over 3400 mens D1 teams were compared across the 14 most common basketball metrics that statisticians record back to the NCAA archive. The list of 68 teams that made this dream college tournament are listed on the bracket game's blogsite at http://www.marchpool.com/blog.

The 68 team invitation list was created by combining college basketball statistics, computer archived by the NCAA since 2002, along with data provided by RPIratings.com. Marchpool's MPI formula, an algorithm that breaks stats into 'resilience' and 'dominance' factors, was used to crunch the database of 3400+ teams.  The list includes traditional CBB powerhouses such as Duke, Kansas, and UNC.  A few Cinderellas also received invitations to this decade fantasy tournament; teams like the legendary Davidson #10 seed of 2007/08, led by current NBA sharpshooter Stephen Curry.

"Our 68 team list of dance invitees is NOT intended to be a ranking of the best overall men's college teams across the NCAA's first digital decade," says Bob Barton, one of the original members of Marchpool. "There are teams that did not jell together until March and went on to win National Championships. Who is to say young teams like Syracuse 02/03 or UConn 10/11, teams that started slow, wouldn't run the field of 68?"

Marchpool's engineers will be working on a 'decade dance tournament simulation program' while eating pizza, drinking beer, and watching Round 1 games. It's a tradition they've kept to each other since 2001.
