NEW YORK, July 20, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Marking another significant phase in its extensive North American expansion plan, Marimekko unveils its e-commerce site in the United States. The online store opened at the brand site, www. marimekko.com, will allow U.S. consumers access to the comprehensive product range, including several collections unavailable in American stores.
A destination designed to reflect Marimekko's signature cheerful approach, the site will showcase collections in home decor, textile, apparel and accessories. It is linked to the Marimekko brand site so that consumers can experience the company's spirit, get to know its unique and bright designs and meet the large team of designers based worldwide.

Marimekko North America will be in charge of the new e-commerce operations. The e-commerce site's introduction comes on the heels of a successful launch into the U.S. marketplace that encompassed the opening of several Marimekko shops within Crate and Barrel stores nationwide (New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Los Angeles). There are about 18 more new Marimekko shops to come at Crate and Barrel by the end of the year 2013. Marimekko will open its first U.S. flagship store in September, a nearly 4,000 sqm location on one of the busiest blocks of Manhattans' Flatiron District, at the corner of 5th Avenue and Broadway.
